SCC staff recommends rejecting Dominion–NextEra merger as proposed
On Oct. 19, Virginia SCC staff recommended rejecting the $67 billion merger unless the companies accept conditions; Gov. Abigail Spanberger also called for a six-year residential base-rate freeze and nearly triple the promised bill credits. The recommendation adds regulatory uncertainty to the transaction; no stock or peer move was reported in the opened source.

Virginia SCC merger review schedule includes further testimony and evidentiary hearing
Updated Oct. 13, the SCC schedule for Dominion–NextEra docket PUR-2026-00112 lists public testimony on Nov. 5, 9 and 10, written comments through Nov. 12, and the evidentiary hearing beginning Nov. 17. The proceedings are part of the regulatory review of the proposed merger.
